Proton Returns to Singapore After 11 Years with e.Mas 7 EV Launch
SINGAPORE – Malaysia’s national carmaker Proton is re-entering Singapore next week after an 11-year hiatus, launching its first electric SUV, the e.Mas 7, through distributor Vincar Group. The mid-sized EV, already Malaysia’s top-selling electric model with nearly 5,000 units sold since December 2024, will be delivered to its first eight Singapore customers at Vincar’s Leng Kee Road showroom.
Proton CEO Li Chunrong said Singapore will serve as a key testing ground for overseas expansion. The e.Mas 7 will be followed by the smaller e.Mas 5 by 2026, with future exports possibly including hybrids depending on local policies.
