Sabah Mining Group Demands Clarity on Chief Minister Hajiji’s Role in Corruption Probe
KOTA KINABALU, June 27, 2025 — The Sabah Mining Operators Association (PPGS) has urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to clarify Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s involvement in the ongoing mineral licensing corruption investigation. PPGS questioned why only two assemblymen face charges on June 30, despite nine individuals, including the state assembly speaker, being implicated.
The association emphasized that Hajiji, as Sabah Mineral Management (SMM) chairperson, must have been aware of licensing processes. PPGS criticized the prosecution of whistleblower “Albert,” who provided extensive evidence, warning it could deter future whistleblowers. MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed three prosecutions, with further action pending the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s decision. PPGS demands transparent action to restore public trust.
