Samsung has launched the Galaxy S25 Edge, a slimmer version of its flagship S25 smartphone, featuring the same Snapdragon 8 Elite processor in a body just 5.8mm thick. Touted as Samsung’s slimmest phone to date, it includes a titanium frame, weighs only 163g, and debuts the new ultra-durable Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.
The 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display offers Quad HD+ resolution and a dynamic 1Hz–120Hz refresh rate. The Edge sports two rear cameras (200MP main, 12MP ultra-wide) and a 12MP front camera, and integrates Galaxy AI throughout. It’s available in up to 512GB storage, starting at £1,099 / $1,099.99 / RM4,674.
This new slim phone release is fueling talks of the industry adjusting to slimmer phones. Previously, Samsung pioneered slim phones with the introduction of the Galaxy SII in 2011. It made even the iPhone 4s look “chunky.’
However, social media users, who are in turn, the general consumers, say they’d much prefer a thicker phone with an excellent battery life. Despite the comments, these phones are released for those who’d want a slimmer version of the company’s flagship.
Apple’s rumoured iPhone 17 Air is also subjected to a lot of talks, and with possible reductions in certain areas to keep the phone thin.
For those interested in the full featured smartphone with better battery life, it is recommended that they opt for the actual flagship, not the slim version of the flagship.
