Singapore Sanctions Four Israeli Far-Right Figures Over West Bank Violence
Singapore has imposed financial sanctions and entry bans on four Israeli far-right individuals linked to violent attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the measures take effect immediately, naming Meir Mordechai Ettinger, Elisha Yered, Ben-Zion Gopstein and Baruch Marzel as perpetrators of “egregious acts of extremist violence.” The ministry said such actions are unlawful and undermine prospects for a viable two-state solution.
Singapore reaffirmed that Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law and warned that continued expansion will further obstruct any negotiated peace. Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan had previously indicated that Singapore would target leaders of radical settler groups responsible for violence.
Ettinger, a grandson of extremist rabbi Meir Kahane, and Yered, linked to the Hilltop Youth, have been implicated in past attacks documented by Israeli and international media. Singapore urged Israel to curb settler violence and hold offenders accountable.
