SML Group Accelerates Sustainable Supply Chains Through RFID Innovation and ESG Progress

SML Group reported strong ESG progress, expanded award-winning RFID innovation, reduced emissions and strengthened supply chain transparency to help brands meet evolving sustainability and regulatory requirements globally.

SML Drives Supply Chain Transparency

SML Group has strengthened its commitment to building more sustainable and transparent global supply chains by reporting significant environmental, social and governance (ESG) progress while advancing award-winning RFID technology to support responsible retail operations.

In its newly released ESG Report 2025, titled Sustainability in Focus: Year 2025 in Review, the company highlighted achievements in emissions reduction, circular economy initiatives, responsible sourcing and workforce development. The report reflects SML’s long-term strategy of combining digital product identity solutions with sustainability initiatives to help brands meet growing regulatory and consumer expectations.

Compared with its 2021 baseline, SML reduced Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 33.6 percent and Scope 3 emissions by 32.6 percent. The company also improved its EcoVadis score to 72 out of 100, earning a Silver Medal and ranking within the global 85th percentile.

Chief Executive Officer Ignatius K.C. Lau said the company has achieved 80 percent of its 2030 emissions target with five years remaining, adding that customers increasingly expect sustainability to be embedded throughout supply chains.

Operational improvements included diverting 90.7 percent of waste from landfill, achieving 83.7 percent supplier compliance with environmental and social procurement standards, delivering more than 33,000 hours of employee training and maintaining a recordable incident rate well below industry averages.

SML also continues to expand digital innovation through InfuseRFID, its award-winning technology that integrates washable RFID tags directly into garments to improve lifecycle tracking, inventory management and traceability. The company said these solutions will help brands prepare for emerging Digital Product Passport requirements and support a more circular retail ecosystem.
