ST Telemedia Global Data Centres and Basis Bay have entered into a joint venture partnership to develop, construct, and operate data centre projects in Kuala Lumpur and Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
The collaboration’s first data center campus in Cyberjaya will feature two buildings with a total capacity of nearly 20MW of IT load. ‘Cyberjaya DC.2’ will be a highly secure, eco-green premium data center catering to local and international banks, financial institutions, government agencies, and other mission-critical sectors, set to be operational in 2024.
‘STT Kuala Lumpur 1’ will target the hyperscale segment and is expected to begin construction in the coming months, with completion scheduled for 2025.
This unique partnership combines Basis Bay’s local expertise, regulatory understanding, and enterprise customer network with STT GDC’s international standards and global market access.
The collaboration aims to meet the demands of hyperscale customers while providing premium data centre services tailored for financial institutions. It also emphasizes local participation and data sovereignty concerns.
The joint venture aims to establish a leading data centre platform in Malaysia and enhance the country’s capabilities in the data centre industry. It aligns with Malaysia’s digital transformation goals, with the digital economy expected to contribute significantly to the nation’s GDP by 2025.
This partnership positions STT GDC as a leading provider of data center solutions in Southeast Asia, catering to the growing demand for reliable and resilient digital infrastructure.
