WASHINGTON, Sept 6 — US President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of 10 F-35 fighter jets to Puerto Rico as part of a campaign against drug cartels, escalating tensions with Venezuela. The jets will join US warships already in the Caribbean, after Washington accused Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro of leading a drug cartel. The move follows a deadly US strike on an alleged Venezuelan drug boat, which killed 11 people. Caracas has condemned the build-up, with Maduro warning of “armed struggle” if attacked and mobilising military forces and reservists in response to what he called a continental threat.
