Vice-Admiral Sabri Zali Threatens Legal Action Over Defamatory Allegations by Chegubard

National Defence Education Centre president Vice-Admiral Sabri Zali has vowed to pursue legal action against individuals spreading defamatory statements about him, specifically targeting Port Dickson Bersatu division chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin, known as Chegubard.

In a statement delivered by his legal adviser Firdaus Jumaludin at a press conference on January 2, 2026, Sabri described the allegations as untrue, misleading, and seriously defamatory. These include unverified claims of involvement in a corruption case, accompanied by circulated photos and documents on social media.

Firdaus announced that Sabri has lodged a police report, with additional follow-up reports planned, noting the allegations date back to August 2024. The matter has been referred to authorities for investigation to clarify public doubts.

The widespread dissemination has caused significant damage, affecting not only Sabri’s institution but also his family and friends, necessitating legal intervention.

On December 31, Chegubard publicly questioned Sabri’s continued service despite alleged corruption links.
