Vietnam is set to sign deals worth over $2 billion to purchase agricultural products from the US, aiming to reduce its trade surplus and avoid a 46% tariff threatened by President Trump. The agreements include five MOUs for $800 million in products like soybean meal, corn, wheat, and dried soybeans from Iowa over three years, significantly increasing from the current $44 million annual exports. A Vietnamese delegation, led by Minister Do Duc Duy, visited the US to negotiate these deals and seek support from companies like Lockheed Martin, SpaceX, and Google. Vietnam also signed a nuclear power development deal with Westinghouse Electric. Meanwhile, the Trump Organization broke ground on a $1.5-billion luxury resort and golf course near Hanoi and is exploring a tower project in Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam is preparing for a third round of trade talks with the US to further address trade imbalances.
