YTL Power confirmed cooperation with MACC’s investigation into the RM4 billion 1BestariNet project, awarded in 2011, amid payment claim discrepancies
YTL Power International Bhd confirmed that it has received a request from the MACC for information regarding the 1BestariNet project. The project was awarded to YTL Communications in 2011 through an open tender, beating 19 other companies due to its “most technically compliant and cost-effective” offer.
YTL Comms stated that the project was successfully completed by June 30, 2019, and is fully cooperating with MACC in the ongoing investigation.
The MACC is investigating claims related to the RM4 billion project, focusing on payment discrepancies. According to a 2018 audit, many schools did not meet the usage KPI for the Frog VLE, with only 0.8% of teachers publishing learning sites.
Regarding 1BestariNet, YTL Power said that the project was awarded to YTL Comms through an open tender after competing against 19 other companies in 2011.
“YTL Comms was selected because its offer was the most technically compliant and cost-effective.
“The project was confirmed to have been successfully completed by the end of the contract period on June 30, 2019, by the Ministry of Education,” it said.
