Anwar: BUDI95 Ensures Targeted RON95 Subsidy Benefits Malaysians
PUTRAJAYA – Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today announced that Malaysia will transition to a targeted petrol subsidy system, BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95), effective September 30, 2025.
“Kerajaan MADANI telah mengotakan komitmennya untuk melaksanakan penyasaran subsidi RON95 dan mengurangkan harga petrol RON95 untuk rakyat Malaysia,” Anwar said.
Under the scheme, Malaysians with an active driving licence can purchase RON95 at RM1.99 per litre, compared to the current RM2.05. Non-citizens will pay unsubsidised prices, estimated at RM2.60 per litre.
“All citizens, regardless of income, will automatically benefit. Inilah keistimewaan hanya untuk rakyat Malaysia,” he stressed.
Each Malaysian is eligible for up to 300 litres monthly, while e-hailing drivers may apply for additional allocations.
Anwar added that savings from BUDI95 will be redirected to public welfare. “Penjimatan daripada peralihan kepada BUDI95 ini akan diagihkan semula melalui STR, SARA dan perkhidmatan asas,” he said.
