Cars entering Singapore will now pay a $50 Vehicle Entry Permit fee from Jan 2027
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on Feb 6, that Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) fees for foreign-registered cars and motorcycles will rise from January 1, 2027, to $50 and $7 per day respectively, while the Goods Vehicle Permit (GVP) fee will increase to $70 per month.
Currently, vehicles and motorcycles are paying $35 a day and $4 a day.
The annual 10 free VEP days and the free VEP hours on weekdays will also be removed, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
From Jan 1, 2027, the VEP fee will apply on all days, except on weekends and Singapore public holidays.
They also do not need to pay the VEP if they enter Singapore from 5pm and exit by 2am the next day, or if they enter Singapore from 12pm and exit by 2am the next day during Singapore’s June and December school holidays.
The changes aim to align costs with Singapore-registered vehicles.
Motorists must also prepare for the new Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) system, requiring installation of ERP 2 on-board units from April 1, 2026. Vehicles without units will face flat-rate ERP charges.
Malaysian taxis must install on-board units (OBUs) for tracking in Singapore, while other foreign vehicles may opt out.
From January 1, foreign-registered vehicles without OBUs will pay flat-rate ERP fees of $3 for motorcycles and $10 for other vehicles daily.
Currently, cars without in-vehicle units pay $5 per day during ERP hours. Motorists can install OBUs in foreign-registered vehicles at $158.70 until December 31, excluding installation costs, with authorised workshops handling the process.
