A trial using a drone to clean the exterior of an HDB block has sparked mixed reactions after a video circulated online. The test, part of a Ministry of National Development initiative to use technology for high-risk maintenance work, was conducted at a Punggol housing block on Oct 11.
Residents were informed earlier to shut windows and curtains as the trial involved water jets and cleaning agents. Online viewers were divided—some supported the move for improving worker safety, while others questioned the cleaning quality, cost, and potential privacy risks.
Several users also expressed concern about the drone spraying near air-conditioning units, which they feared could cause damage.
