KUALA LUMPUR – The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has appointed Mohamad Hafiz Kassim as its new chief investment officer (CIO), effective Dec 1, succeeding Rohaya Mohd Yusof who is set to retire.
Hafiz, 50, is currently the fund’s chief financial officer, a role he assumed in August 2021. He joined EPF in 2008 as private equity head and has held various senior roles, including managing director of Kwasa Land Sdn Bhd from 2020 to 2021. Prior to EPF, he worked with Daiwa Capital Markets, PwC in the UK and Malaysia, and Telekom Malaysia.
Rohaya, who became EPF’s first female CIO in 2020, is expected to chair the investment panel at Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP).
The EPF, Malaysia’s largest investment fund, manages RM1.25 trillion in assets and has more than 16 million members. It has consistently delivered dividends of 5.2% to 6.3% for conventional savings and 4.9% to 6.3% for Shariah savings over the past five years.
