ETS completion by August 2025 will boost Johor tourism
The Electric Train Service (ETS) connecting Johor Baru to Kuala Lumpur is expected to be fully operational by August 2025, boosting Johor’s tourism industry in time for Visit Malaysia 2026. The ETS will reduce travel time to about three and a half hours, facilitating tourist movement and increasing hotel occupancy for cultural events. The service has already shown benefits in Segamat since March, particularly during the durian season. Two ETS train sets from China arrived in April and are undergoing trials, with eight more being assembled in Batu Gajah, Perak. The rollout is phased, with Segamat already operational, followed by Kluang and JB Sentral.
