Rise of cyber violence on a worldwide scale now
AI has become a frontline defence in Malaysia’s cybersecurity landscape, with 90% of organizations already using it, according to a 2025 IDC survey commissioned by Fortinet. The study found AI adoption has rapidly moved from pilot projects to full-scale deployment, covering areas such as predictive threat modelling, automated response, incident management, and behavioural analytics. Nearly half of Malaysian firms reported facing AI-driven cyberattacks in the past year, with many noting such threats have doubled or tripled in scale.
AI adoption is also reshaping the workforce, with growing demand for roles like AI security engineers and data scientists. Despite rising budgets, most increases remain modest, directed toward identity security, Zero Trust, resilience, and cloud protection. However, many teams remain under-resourced, with only 6% of the total workforce allocated to IT and cybersecurity.
The report highlighted consolidation and convergence as key strategies, with 96% of firms integrating networking and security operations.
