Abdullah Haron is now the IFSB Deputy Secretary-General

The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) – the global standard-setting body responsible for promoting the development of a prudent and transparent Islamic financial services industry – has appointed Abdullah Haron as its Deputy Secretary-General, effective 4th February 2025.

Haron: Career path

With over 30 years of experience in financial regulation, risk management, and Islamic finance, Abdullah has held key roles at the IMF, Central Bank of the UAE, and IFSB.

His career highlights include shaping IMF’s approach to Islamic banking, helping establish the Higher Sharī’ah Authority in the UAE, and contributing to the IFSB’s foundational regulatory standards during his decade-long tenure as Assistant Secretary-General.
