Jobstreet by SEEK Flags Rising Job Scams and Boosts Fraud-Prevention Systems
Jobstreet by SEEK has highlighted a rise in sophisticated job-related scams in Malaysia during International Fraud Awareness Week. Increasingly complex tactics have been reported, including recruiter impersonations, voice-phishing and “pay-to-apply” schemes delivered through messaging apps. Regional analysis indicates that Administration and Office Support roles remain the most targeted, followed by Manufacturing,
Transport and Logistics, and Sales. Broader digital fraud has also been recorded nationwide, with police confirming significant financial losses linked to online scams. AI-driven fraud, including deepfake videos and voice imitation, has been observed as an emerging trend. Jobstreet by SEEK has reported that all job ads on its platforms were scanned between July 2024 and June 2025, with high-risk ads removed and fraudulent hirer accounts blocked. Candidate education continues to be provided through the platform’s Security and Privacy Hub, with jobseekers encouraged to report suspicious postings for review.
