Lee Lam Thye: Act Now on Auditor-General’s Report or Risk Normalising Mismanagement

Social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye has called for urgent action following the latest Auditor-General’s Report, which exposes ongoing weaknesses in Malaysia’s public sector governance. He expressed concern over recurring issues such as financial mismanagement, procurement irregularities, and a lack of accountability in government agencies. Lee criticised the repeated failures, calling for civil servants guilty of misconduct to face real consequences. He also proposed empowering internal audits, increasing transparency through an online procurement dashboard, and giving more authority to the Public Accounts Committee. Parliament, he said, must play a stronger role in enforcing accountability.
