Customs Exceeds 2025 Revenue Target by RM6 Billion
KUALA LUMPUR, 19 December 2025 – Malaysia’s trade maintained robust growth in November, expanding 11.1% year-on-year to RM263.8 billion, driven by strong exports and imports, according to the Statistics Department.
Exports rose 7% to RM135 billion, boosted by a 40.3% surge in re-exports to RM29.8 billion, while domestic exports edged up 0.3%. Imports climbed 15.8% to RM128.9 billion, led by capital goods (+56.8%) and intermediate goods (+5%).
However, the trade surplus plunged 58.8% to RM6.1 billion from RM14.8 billion a year earlier. Month-on-month, total trade fell 4.5%, with the surplus down 70%.
For January-November, exports grew 6.1%, imports 5.6%, total trade 5.8%, and trade balance 10.7%. The department noted broad-based import growth by end-use, except a 1.7% drop in consumption goods.
