Indonesian oil tycoon Mohammad Riza Chalid
JAKARTA – International police agency Interpol has issued a red notice for the arrest of prominent Indonesian oil tycoon Mohammad Riza Chalid, known as the ‘gasoline godfather’, in connection with a staggering Rp285 trillion (RM67 billion) corruption scandal at state-owned oil company Pertamina.The notice, issued on 23 January 2026, seeks global assistance to locate and provisionally arrest the 66-year-old businessman for alleged corruption, money laundering.
He is also accused of manipulation of leasing agreements between 2018 and 2023.Indonesia’s Interpol National Central Bureau secretary Untung Widyatmoko confirmed authorities know Riza’s whereabouts but declined to disclose details. His Indonesian passport was revoked in October 2025.In July 2025, Riza, his son Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, and several senior Pertamina officials were named suspects. Prosecutors accuse them of importing crude oil at inflated prices from foreign suppliers, violating domestic sourcing rules. Eighteen suspects have been identified so far. – Photo: Social Media
