Samenta Urges Government to End Surprise Holidays, Calls Them Harmful to Economy
KUALA LUMPUR – The Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Malaysia (SAMENTA), the nation’s oldest and largest SME association, has announced its new National Council for the 2026–2029 term following its Annual General Meeting. William Ng was re-elected as National President and will lead the council under a bold “Growth-Beyond-Survival” mandate aimed at transforming Malaysian SMEs from operational survival to global competitiveness.
The new council blends experienced industry advocates with specialists in digital technology, finance, and manufacturing, reflecting the increasingly complex challenges SMEs face in 2026. Ng emphasized that Malaysian SMEs are at a critical turning point, citing fiscal reforms, labour market changes, regional supply chain shifts, and rapid AI adoption as forces reshaping business models.
SAMENTA outlined four strategic pillars for its three-year term: accelerated AI integration and digitalization, aggressive policy advocacy and structural reform, global market expansion, and sustainable business practices. Ng stressed that the council will act as a strategic partner to government and Malaysia’s 1.1 million SMEs, driving deep structural transformation for long-term resilience and growth.
