Six including govt dept director held in contract graft probe

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested six individuals, including a civil servant titled Datuk, suspected of accepting bribes worth hundreds of thousands of ringgit related to development and maintenance contract awards from 2021 to 2025. The group includes a company director (also a Datuk), an engineer from a government department, a married couple, and a contractor, aged 20 to 50. The arrests occurred at 5:30 pm on May 20, 2025, at MACC headquarters in Putrajaya. The main suspects, a director and an engineer, allegedly solicited bribes from contractors, with middlemen facilitating payments, including RM115,000 in cash, home renovations, and mobile phones. Five suspects were remanded for five days until May 24, 2025, and one for three days until May 22, 2025, as ordered by Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin.
