The 2025 Sunday Times Rich List highlights a significant decline in UK billionaires, dropping from 165 to 156, the largest fall in the list’s 37-year history.
Despite this, the combined wealth of the UK’s 350 richest individuals remains substantial, though it has decreased. King Charles’ personal wealth increased by £30m to £640m, matching that of former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty, placing them joint 238th. The Hinduja family, behind the Hinduja Group, retained the top spot for the fourth year, with a fortune of £35.3bn, despite a slight decline. Other notable figures include David and Simon Reuben (£26.9bn) in second, and Sir Leonard Blavatnik (£25.7bn) in third. The list reflects economic challenges and policy changes, such as the Labour government’s non-dom tax crackdown, contributing to the billionaire decline.
1. Gopi Hinduja and family (£35.3bn, down from £37.2bn)
2. David and Simon Reuben and family (£26.87bn)
3. Sir Leonard Blavatnik (£25.73bn)
4. Sir James Dyson and family (£20.8bn)
5. Idan Ofer (£20.12bn)
