Minister Nga Kor Ming Launches ARCHIDEX & AREC 2025, Driving Sustainable Urban Innovation

On April 17, 2025, Minister of Housing and Local Government, Nga Kor Ming, launched the preview of ARCHIDEX and AREC 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, emphasizing Malaysia’s commitment to sustainable urban development. ARCHIDEX 2025, Asia’s premier architecture business event, will take place from July 21–24 at MITEC and July 23–26 at KLCC, expecting 56,000 visitors from 110 countries, 1,000 exhibitors, and a 40% increase in exhibition space (36,700 sqm). The event, part of the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF), aims to drive innovation, regional collaboration, and economic growth in the architecture and building sectors, with an anticipated RM2 billion in investment value.

ARCHIDEX & AREC 2025

Key features include the World of Works (WOW), a pioneering workplace simulation for sustainable design, the Malaysia-China Customised Furniture Zone, the PAM Pavilion promoting Malaysian timber, and the ASEAN Fenestration & Technology Exhibition (FENESTEX) for energy-efficient building solutions. The inaugural KL Architecture Week will integrate architecture, arts, and heritage to boost tourism. Concurrently, AREC 2025, themed “The Real Estate Renaissance: Innovate, Integrate, Impact,” will address regional housing and urban challenges during Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship.
