Bukit Aman Stresses Need for Cyber Vigilance Against Extremism

KOTA KINABALU, 5 July – Bukit Aman has underscored the urgency of enhancing cyber-monitoring capabilities to combat the spread of radical ideologies via social media. Special Branch deputy director Comm Datuk Ahmad Ramdzan Daud said militant groups like the Bangladeshi Radical Militant Group (GMRB) are actively exploiting digital platforms to recruit and fund extremist causes, including links to Islamic State (IS) in Syria and Bangladesh. Despite neutralising GMRB’s operations, authorities believe undetected threats persist. Comm Ahmad made these remarks during the Police Basic Training Programme graduation at the Sabah police headquarters, where 200 trainees completed their training
