KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 – Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) has been directed to closely monitor the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, now 85% complete, to prevent disruptions such as encroachments that could delay its early 2027 launch. Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, stressed the project’s potential to become a national landmark and economic catalyst. During the 32nd MRL board meeting and retreat in Melaka, he highlighted the need for collaboration across government and private sectors to ensure operational readiness, job creation, and improved East-West Coast connectivity.
