Two Chinese Nationals Charged for Illegally Shipping US AI Chips to China

LOS ANGELES – Two Chinese nationals, Chuan Geng and Shiwei Yang, have been charged with illegally exporting tens of millions of dollars’ worth of advanced AI chips, including Nvidia H100s, to China without proper licenses. Operating through their California-based firm, ALX Solutions Inc, the pair allegedly routed over 20 shipments via Singapore and Malaysia from 2022 to 2025. Authorities revealed ALX received significant payments from China and Hong Kong. Geng is out on US$250,000 bond, while Yang remains detained pending a hearing. The Justice Department alleges they violated U.S. export controls imposed to restrict sensitive tech sales to China.
