Police Hunt Mastermind of RM2.3 Million Investment Scam
LeVeL33, the world’s highest urban microbrewery at Marina Bay, has become the latest F&B victim of a sophisticated online scam. Fake websites mimicking its official page appear as top sponsored Google results, prompting diners to enter credit card details for “pre-authorisation”. Several customers arrived with bogus reservations while others reported attempted charges of $200–$2,000 — all blocked by banks.
Founder Dr Martin Bem stressed the restaurant’s real site (level33.com.sg) and SevenRooms portal were never hacked. He has reported the case to police, Google and Cyber Security Agency. The warning comes amid a string of F&B scams, including fake event bookings and extortion via bad reviews. Dr Bem urged diners to verify URLs or call directly, especially during the festive season.
