KUALA LUMPUR: More than 4.6 million Employees Provident Fund (EPF) members have made withdrawals from the Flexible Account since its introduction in May 2024, totalling RM14.79 billion as of June 30, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim revealed. This accounts for 35.1% of the 13.2 million members under 55. The remaining balance in the Flexible Account stands at RM10.16 billion. Responding to a query on allowing special withdrawals in 2025, Anwar stressed that Account 1 is meant for retirement savings, not short-term needs, and cited government cash aid, targeted subsidies, and incentives as alternative support measures.
