Half of global companies plan to establish Security Operations Centers (SOCs) to strengthen cybersecurity, with human expertise remaining central despite growing automation, according to a new Kaspersky study.
The research, involving senior IT security leaders from companies with over 500 employees across 16 countries, found that 50% aim to improve overall security posture, while 45% are responding to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
Faster detection and response, budget optimisation, and expanding digital environments were cited by 41% of organisations. Continuous 24/7 monitoring emerged as the top SOC requirement, selected by 54% of respondents, underscoring the need for proactive, real-time defence.
While advanced tools such as Threat Intelligence Platforms, Endpoint Detection and Response, and SIEM systems are widely adopted, they rely heavily on skilled analysts for interpretation and decision-making.
Larger enterprises deploy more technologies per SOC, reflecting higher regulatory and operational demands. Kaspersky stressed that successful SOCs require balanced investment in technology, processes, and people.
