Heavy Vehicle Crashes Kill 1,457 in Six Years, Highways Deadliest: Miros Study

A Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) study reported that over the past six years, 1,457 fatalities occurred in 3,500 lorry and trailer accidents, averaging one death every 36 hours. Highways are the deadliest, with higher fatality rates due to speeding, overloaded vehicles, and accidents on bends. Heavy vehicles’ size increases collision impact, causing 473 serious and 1,076 minor injuries.
