PUTRAJAYA — Transport Minister Anthony Loke today announced the launch of the ‘War on Overloaded Commercial Vehicles’, an integrated enforcement operation led by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) running until December 31.
The operation targets non-compliant operators and drivers who exceed load limits, damaging roads and endangering lives. Enforcement will span five zones — North, Central, South, East, and Borneo — with each state deploying four teams.
Loke said the crackdown will focus on hotspots such as quarries, ports, and heavy industrial areas transporting materials like sand, coal, and logs.
He warned that repeat offenders risk having their operator licences or vehicle permits suspended or revoked under a new framework with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD).
“This time, we mean business. Overloading is not just a technical offence—it’s a threat to public safety,” he said.
