Indonesia Video Industry to See Revenues of $2.5b in 2023

Jakarta: Industry leaders at the Asia Video Industry Association (AVIA)  discussed Indonesia’s TV and video landscape, with projections indicating that total video industry revenues will rise from US$2.5 billion in 2023 to US$3.7 billion by 2028, according to Media Partners Asia (MPA) research.

Representatives from Netflix, Vision+, WeTV, and others highlighted the growth of the streaming market, emphasizing the importance of strategic partnerships and content creation.

AVIA and Piracy

While piracy remains a significant concern in Indonesia, CAP (Coalition Against Piracy) and AVISI (Video Streaming Association of Indonesia) signed an MOU to combat online piracy. The conference also focused on monetization strategies for premium video, including programmatic advertising and FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming Television) services.

Hary Tanoesoedibjo, Executive Chairman of MNC Group, outlined plans to transform the company into a content and entertainment powerhouse, including the creation of a super app that combines FTA (Free-to-Air) content with premium subscription services.

Tanoesoedibjo also addressed the potential sale of MNC Play, highlighting a strategy to sell the data infrastructure while retaining the IPTV business. Indonesia in View was sponsored by Vidio, Vision+, A+E Networks Asia, Akamai, INVIDI, MEASAT, NAGRA VISION, Publica, and PubMatic. The event provided insights into the evolving landscape of Indonesia’s video and TV industry.
