Kedah to Launch Science Centre and ‘1000 Young Scientists’ Programme
KULIM, Oct 13 — The Kedah state government under the Greater Kedah initiative plans to establish the Kedah Science Centre and launch the ‘1000 Young Scientists’ programme next year.
State Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman Prof Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah said the initiative aims to prepare young Kedahans, regardless of race or religion, to become future leaders in science and technology.
As part of the state’s human capital development agenda, Dr Haim announced an initial RM50,000 contribution to support the programme, which will identify, train and mentor young talents in STEM across all districts.
He also called for a quadruple-helix collaboration involving government, industry, academia, and the community to ensure its success. Dr Haim expressed hopes that the proposed Kedah Science Centre will be established in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, further strengthening Kedah’s role as a technology-driven state.
