KLK’s Indonesian subsidiary faces a RM158.7 million arbitration claim over a gas supply agreement, while analysts maintain earnings forecasts, a Neutral rating, and RM22.57 target price.
Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK) is facing a legal dispute in Indonesia after its wholly-owned subsidiary, PT Perindustrian Sawit Synergi (PT PSS), received notification that an arbitration panel has been established by Badan Arbitrase Nasional Indonesia (BANI).
The arbitration follows claims filed by PT Pertagas Niaga (PT GN), which is seeking approximately USD39 million, equivalent to RM158.7 million, in compensation related to the remaining period of a gas supply agreement.
The claim centres on contractual obligations under the existing gas supply arrangement between PT PSS and PT GN. While the arbitration process is now underway, the financial outcome remains uncertain and will depend on the panel’s eventual ruling.
Despite the development, analysts have maintained their existing earnings forecasts for KLK, citing limited visibility until the arbitration proceedings provide greater clarity. The investment outlook also remains unchanged, with a Neutral recommendation and a sum-of-parts based target price of RM22.57.
Investors are expected to closely monitor the arbitration process, as any material ruling could influence KLK’s financial position and future operational outlook in Indonesia.
