LRT3 Project 99% Complete, Set to Launch September 30

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 — The LRT3 line from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia is 99.21% complete and on track to begin operations on September 30, Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirmed. In Parliament, Loke attributed delays to COVID-era restrictions, labour shortages, and material supply issues. Originally budgeted at RM31.65 billion, the project cost was reduced to RM16.63 billion in 2018, but rose to RM21.93 billion after scope reinstatements in 2024. Additions include five new stations and 150 electric buses. The line is expected to serve up to 18,630 passengers hourly, benefiting around two million residents in the Klang Valley.
