Malaysia Monitors Egg Prices Closely as Subsidies Drop, Warns Against Price Hikes

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Armizan Mohd Ali announced close monitoring of egg prices and supply following a subsidy reduction from RM0.10 to RM0.05 per egg, effective May 1, 2025, with full termination by August 1. Speaking at a RON97 product launch in Kimanis on May 3, Armizan emphasized that egg prices remain under control, warning against arbitrary price hikes. The ministry, in collaboration with the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry, is conducting operations to ensure price stability and availability. A special committee coordinates these efforts, and the public is urged to report issues via complaint platforms, with investigations promised within 24 hours to address any violations.
