Malaysia Strengthens Push to Be China’s Key Partner in Trade and Investment
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has reaffirmed its ambition to become China’s leading trading and investment partner, leveraging strategic initiatives such as the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the National Semiconductor Strategy. Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz highlighted Malaysia’s role as ASEAN’s gateway, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urging Chinese firms to expand through Malaysia. During his four-day visit to Beijing, Anwar secured Chinese President Xi Jinping’s full support for Malaysia’s accelerated entry into BRICS, a move expected to enhance its global economic role while boosting bilateral cooperation and high-quality job opportunities.
