Kuching hosted the launch of the Initial M: Media SIM Racing Grand Prix, the first event of its kind in Sarawak, bringing together 17 journalists from 9 media organisations in a competitive e-sim racing tournament. Organised by Metadise Electronic Sports Club (MESC), Hazel Communication & Solutions (HazelComms), and the Kuching Division Journalist Association (KDJA), the event marks a major step in merging media, technology, and motorsport.
Held at Metadise Sim Racing in Kuching, the event’s qualifying rounds determined the seven top media teams who will compete in the Final Time Attack Round on 30 August 2025, racing on a simulated Sepang Circuit.
Organisers say the initiative highlights sim racing as a powerful platform for brand engagement, content innovation, and cross-sector collaboration, giving journalists the opportunity to move from covering the action to becoming part of it.
“This isn’t just a race — it’s a revolution. The media are driving the narrative from the cockpit now, not just the newsroom.” – Afiq Fadhli Narawi, President of MESC
