Megah Rise Mall embraces sustainability and community spirit for Deepavali

HAVING obtained clearance from the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to re-open its main entrance once again, Megah Rise Mall has lined up an array of fun-filled schedule events to end the year with a bang.

For starter, the community-centric mall which is poised to be the new landmark of Petaling Jaya is all ready to reignite community spirit and reaffirm its place as the hub for Klang Valley’s seasonal markers.

In conjunction with Deepavali celebrations this weekend, the mall will see the return of the second leg of its REplace Project (from Nov 11-13).

Launched last Saturday (Nov 4), the REplace Project is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by PPB Group Bhd and its property division PPB Properties which happens to be the mall’s developer.

This initiative reflects the mall’s commitment to sustainability and aims to increase environmental awareness among visitors.

Megah Rise Mall Sustainability

Significantly, the project at Megah Rise Mall brings together four sustainability initiatives to inspire the community towards eco-friendly living and effective recycling methods. These initiatives include a book-sharing corner, a smart urban farm, a recycling area, and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

Located at Level B2, the REcycle element offers a single point for responsibly disposing of items such as paper, tin, plastic, e-waste, and fabric. The REgrow urban farm on Level 1 cultivates vegetables that are donated biweekly to charity homes.

For those driving green vehicles, the REcharge EV charging stations provide the necessary support while the REpurpose book-sharing spot promotes the circulation of pre-loved books within the community.

Meanwhile, the second leg of the REplace Project will feature another set of 12 talks and workshops spread across three days (Nov 11-13) at the Ground Floor Main Atrium.

The REplace Project

“We believe that our collective efforts toward sustainability are crucial for a brighter, greener future and play a significant role in nurturing the next generation of environmentally conscious citizens,” reckoned PPB Group’s head of sustainability Audrey Lee.

The first leg of the REplace Project last weekend (Nov 4-5) offered eight engaging educational talks and workshops centered around the theme Recycling Done Right.

Topics covered responsible waste management, renewable energy and sustainable living practices. Experts from organisations such as Sunway XFarms, Biji-Biji Initiative, Mereka, Bungkus, Kloth Cares Malaysia, Zero Waste Malaysia and Impactlution led these sessions to inspire residents of Taman Megah to embrace sustainability principles.
