Bandara City Mall Adopts Solar Energy in Indonesia

Bandara City Mall in Tangerang has partnered with Xurya, a renewable energy company, to install rooftop Solar Power Generation (PLTS) solutions. Completed in late 2023, the rooftop PLTS at the mall has begun operations.

Capable of generating clean energy equivalent to 645,000 kWh annually, or reducing carbon emissions by 577,000 kilograms per year, the PLTS at the mall showcases a commitment to sustainability.

Ronnie Mustafa, CEO of Provident Development, highlighted the mall’s interest in innovative solutions to address climate crises. Xurya’s expertise and diverse portfolio were decisive factors in selecting them for the installation and operation of the PLTS.

Eka Himawan, Managing Director of Xurya, says Bandara City Mall’s initiative towards sustainability comes with the Xurya Lease program that ensures routine maintenance for optimal performance over the next 20 years.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of renewable energy in commercial buildings, offering benefits like energy efficiency, cost savings, and positive environmental impact. Additionally, the installed PLTS at the mall demonstrates that solar panels do not cause glare that could disrupt flight activities.

Xurya has over 100 PLTS projects across Indonesia, estimated to produce over 150 million kWh of clean energy annually, significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
