Petronas to Deliver First LNG Canada Cargo to Japan’s Toho Gas in July
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 — Petronas plans to expand its footprint in Canada, citing the country as a key liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply base. Executive vice-president and upstream CEO Jukris Abdul Wahab said Petronas holds around 50 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of gas there, enough to support multiple LNG projects beyond the ongoing Phase 1 of LNG Canada. He expressed hope for Canadian government support in advancing these ventures. Petronas shipped its first LNG cargo from Kitimat, British Columbia, on July 8. The company also operates the North Montney Joint Venture and is a major partner in the US$40 billion LNG Canada facility.
