Standard Energy Asia (SEA) and Perbadanan Menteri Besar Kelantan (PMBK) are partnering to build a biofuel facility near Tok Bali Port, Kelantan. This innovative project, initially producing 5,000 tons of biofuel annually with plans to scale up to 24,000 tons, will use Used Cooking Oil (UCO) and other sustainable biomass, supporting waste reduction and circular economy goals.
Dr. Ahmad Zaharuddin Sani, SEA’s Executive Director, highlighted the use of advanced technology to position Kelantan as a leader in sustainable fuel production. Slated for completion by 2026, the facility will offer significant job opportunities and align with key UN Sustainable Development Goals.
“This facility will incorporate cutting-edge technology and automated processes, positioning Kelantan as a pioneer in sustainable fuel production. Our strategic location near Tok Bali Port provides excellent logistics advantages for both feedstock procurement and product distribution,” says Dr. Ahmad Zaharuddin Sani.
PMBK CEO Wan Husni highlighted the economic benefits: “This joint venture will create substantial employment opportunities for the local community, including both direct operational roles and indirect jobs in supporting industries. We anticipate this project will serve as a catalyst for further industrial development in the region.”
