Syed Saddiq (Muda-Muar) warned in Parliament that public trust in the government could erode if it fails to clarify claims that Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, former aide to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, was linked to a company awarded a 70,000ha mining exploration licence in Sabah. Debating the Whistleblower Protection (Amendment) Bill 2025, Syed Saddiq stressed that silence may fuel perceptions of conspiracy among officials. The alleged licence covers forest reserves near Kalimantan and comes amid a major Sabah mining corruption scandal involving bribes to state politicians. Farhash has denied the allegations and issued a cease and desist notice against MalaysiaNow, which published documents allegedly proving its claims. PAS MP Awang Hashim also called on the government to address these serious allegations transparently.
