KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 — Thailand and Cambodia have signed the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord, ending months of deadly border clashes. The historic agreement, signed by Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, was witnessed by United States President Donald Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Trump praised Anwar’s pivotal role in mediating the conflict, saying, “The prime minister played a very important role in convening the two sides for discussions here in Kuala Lumpur.” The accord follows earlier talks hosted by Anwar in Putrajaya in July, which successfully defused tensions along the border.
Trump said the agreement marked a significant step toward peace and prosperity in Southeast Asia. “On behalf of the US, I am proud to have helped settle this conflict and forge a peaceful future,” he said.
