DHL names last-mile mobility startup as sustainability challenge winner
DHL has named TUX mobility the winner of its Fast Forward Challenge: Sustainable Solutions for the Asia Pacific region. TUX mobility, based in the Netherlands with production in India, developed the world’s first solar-powered, light electric cargo vehicle that charges itself while driving.
This innovation addresses the need for low-carbon delivery options, crucial for last-mile delivery in the growing e-commerce sector.
The Fast Forward Challenge, held in Singapore, sought innovative solutions to enhance sustainability in logistics. TUX mobility triumphed over finalists Planet Protector and BANF, which offered alternative solutions like sheep wool insulation and IoT-based tire sensors. The win enables TUX mobility to pilot their technology with DHL in Asia Pacific and receive support from DHL’s innovation team.
Laurens Janssen of TUX mobility expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, aiming to advance solar mobility and reduce carbon emissions. DHL’s Chief Commercial Officer, Katja Busch, highlighted the importance of sustainable logistics and collaboration to address environmental impacts.
