Kelantan Police: State a Key Transit Point for Drugs from Thailand
Malaysian Customs foiled three drug smuggling attempts involving narcotics worth RM6.64 million concealed in coffee packaging and falsely declared medical equipment. Deputy director-general (Enforcement and Compliance) Siti Mang said a container at West Port, Port Klang, held 25.74kg of cocaine disguised as “health inspection equipment” bound for Australia.
In a separate Banting case, officers seized 367 grams of Ecstasy, two pistols, and live bullets from a car. Another raid at the KLIA Free Trade Zone uncovered 14.67kg of cannabis packed in “white coffee” sachets. All three cases are being investigated under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carrying the death penalty or life imprisonment upon conviction.
