Lorry operators in Johor are urging the Transport Ministry to postpone the Oct 1 enforcement of the speed limiter device (SLD) system on heavy commercial vehicles, citing unclear guidelines and cost concerns. Johor Trucking Association president Chai Pei Yoon said, “With less than two months to go until the Oct 1 enforcement date, we are unsure whether local suppliers have enough time to import the devices.” She added that many older vehicles lack the necessary Electronic Control Unit (ECU), requiring costly third-party installations. The association proposes delaying enforcement to Jan 1 to allow proper SOPs and ensure full compliance.
