Mah Sing’s Property Development Gets Sustainability Recognition

Kuala Lumpur, 2022 – Mah Sing Group Bhd was awarded the Outstanding ESG Impact Corporate Excellence Award for Property Development industry category by the Malaysia SDG and ESG Impact Awards 2022 at an award ceremony held at Berjaya Time Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur recently.

The award is conferred to businesses that has successfully integrate ESG practices into their business strategy and operations. The award was presented by the Deputy Minister of Finance I, YB Dato’ Indera Mohd Shahar Abdullah to Mah Sing’s Head of Strategic Communications, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, Lyanna Tew.

The inaugural Malaysia SDG and ESG Impact Awards 2022 were jointly organised by All-Party Parliamentary Group on SDGs (APPG-SDG), the Economic Club of Kuala Lumpur (ECKL) and the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific (KSI), with the support from the Malaysian CSO Alliance.

Sustainability Practices

The award was created to recognise and reward both individual and corporate efforts in continuously adopting and implementing SDGs goals and ESG practices. The implementation of these sustainability efforts has contributed to the development of creating a sustainable society.

Mah Sing’s Founder and Group Managing Director, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong Hoy Kum says, “Mah Sing is now a constituent of FTSE4Good and is one of the Top 25% of public listed companies in terms of ESG Ratings in FBM EMAS. Mah Sing’s sustainability development journey began as early as 2011.

Since then, the Group has been focusing on environmental, social, and governance aspects to commit the Group’s sustainability framework, mission pillar, and material topics which are all aligned with the UN SDGs.”

“Throughout these years, Mah Sing has always ensured that sustainability is embedded into business operations and strategies. For our Property Division, we have been emphasising on infusing green building design concept and elements into our developments. We strongly believe that bringing green back to the city is definitely possible,” says Leong.
